ABOUT DEBBIE STANLEY
Debbie provides counseling and consultation to address any problem related to disorganization. She holds master’s degrees in industrial/organizational psychology and mental health counseling as well as the credentials of limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC1), National Certified Counselor (NCC2), and Certified Professional Organizer in Chronic Disorganization (CPO-CD3). Debbie is the recipient of the National Association of Professional Organizers' Shining Star Award and Founders' Award.
Counseling Services
As a mental health counselor, Debbie specializes in conditions related to chronic disorganization and hoarding, including AD/HD, OCD, anxiety, depression, and the emotional and cognitive components of physical health issues such as brain injury and chronic pain. Chronic disorganization is not defined as a mental health condition; rather, it is a phenomenon identified by the professional organizing industry which has come to be recognized as commonly co-occurring with a variety of mental health issues. Debbie bridges the worlds of professional organizing and mental health counseling to bring comprehensive solutions to chronic disorganization.
Debbie does not subscribe to the manipulative, dictatorial, and shaming tactics seen on some television shows. These approaches undermine the client’s dignity and autonomy and are therefore unethical. Instead, through empathy and respect for each person’s inherent self-efficacy, Debbie helps clients to find their own motivation to change and teaches them new techniques to achieve their goals.
Corporate Consulting
As an industrial psychologist, Debbie provides consultation for individuals and work groups seeking better operational organization and efficiency. Utilizing one-on-one coaching, group instruction and activities, and standardized instruments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory, Debbie assesses and advises on issues including interpersonal dynamics, personnel allocation, skills and interests development, stress, burnout, and job satisfaction enhancement. She has a special interest in helping executives and their assistants to build a symbiotic working relationship.
ABOUT RED LETTER DAY
Red Letter Day Professional Organizers was founded in 1997 and became Red Letter Day Counseling and Consulting in 2010. The name refers to the expression "a red letter day," meaning an important date that would be recorded in red on a calendar or in a diary. When you decide to make an important change, it’s a red letter day.

2What is an NCC?: National Certified Counselors must pass a rigorous national exam and commit to a strict code of ethics and continuing education. For more information, see National Board for Certified Counselors.3What is a CPO-CD?: CPO-CD is the third level of a credentialing program offered by the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization. In addition to completing the first two levels, CPO-CDs must undertake 18 months of individual coaching, complete a set of written assignments, and pass a comprehensive oral exam.
